Canine Musical Freestyle -
Whether you think of it as "Dancing with your dog" or as "Obedience to Music" it
is a great way to "play" with your dog and earn titles in this new and growing
sport.
Good Showing for Oklahoma Teams at Motown Bow Wow Boogie
The Freestyle Fanatics hosted a wonderful show March 27-28, 2006 in Davisburg,
MI. Three Oklahoma Freestyle teams were able to participate this year and they
did quite well. Below is a report to our clicker training group on the
accomplishments of the Oklahoma teams from Kris Hurley one of the participants
and a Freestyle Coach/trainer in the Oklahoma City area (for more information
about Kris visit her website at
www.freestyledogs.com ) Please note that all of the Oklahoma Freestyle
teams mentioned on this page are 100% clicker trained dogs.

Qualifying Scores in each level are as follows (must achieve at least the
listed score in both Technical Merit AND Artistic Impression):
Sassy Senior Beginner - 6.75
Beginner - 7.25
Novice - 8.00
Intermediate - 8.50
Advanced - 9.20
As you can tell by these standards, the many legs that Oklahoma earned were
quite an accomplishment. And just so you know how hard it is to qualify in
Advanced - none of the Advanced MF teams qualified on Saturday, and only two
qualified on Sunday (Sue & Lizzie being the top team). And the fact that Pam &
Nike earned High Scoring dog from the Novice class is quite an accomplishment.
As you can tell, the score expectation is higher as you progress - so it is
common to see the higher scores to come out of the more advanced levels.

Obviously, the Oklahoma teams really made an impression. We all received
several comments about how well our dogs worked and how happy they looked...
Hopefully we can continue the trend and get some more Oklahoma teams competing
whether via live events or video - so we can continue to show what clicker
training can really do!
