Currently due to time constraints I do not have any privately held group classes on my schedule.

I am however volunteering a couple of times a year to teach at a local dog club "Companion Dog School of Tulsa" (CDST).  At CDST I teach various clicker training and canine musical freestyle classes.  To see their current class schedule you can visit their site at www.companiondogschool.com

Currently (Spring 2007) I am talking to the CDST training director about a new class for the summer - the name is still up in the air and it is still in the "planning/thinking out stages" so I cannot promise it will get on the schedule but I'm excited about the possibilities.  Are you curious yet?

How 'bout "Musical Rally" or "Obedience to Music" or "Marching Paws" all of those names would be appropriate for what I hope is my next class.  Combine basic obedience skills, heel, sit, down, finish, simple recall and stay - with music and a drill team performance and you will be able to image the class I'm hoping to teach.  In the midst of practicing basic obedience, students will learn one (or two) drill team patterns set to music. For the finished product add simple costume/uniforms for a snappy look.

My goal is to produce a team that will be able to perform at various non-profit dog functions throughout the year.

This would be an "Advanced" BEGINNER class.  Dogs would need to already be able to walk on a leash, sit in heel, stay for 30 seconds while owner is 6 feet away, lay down (and stay), come front.  This class will NOT focus on learning new behaviors (although I'm sure we will) but will work at perfecting the basic behaviors and doing it in a fun and entertaining manner.

If you are interested in this class please let me know - it will help to put it on the calendar if we can show interest in this type of activity.  You can contact me at (take the spaces out and put in the @  sign and period instead of the words "at" & "dot" - don't you hate spammers that cause us to have to do stupid stuff like this!!!) nikesmom "at" valornet "dot" com
